We have recently trained school nurses in Newcastle so they can now offer stop smoking support to high school children throughout Newcastle.

Children who start smoking when they’re younger are more likely to smoke heavily when they’re older and struggle to quit. That’s why it’s important that school children have accessible support to help them on their stop smoking journey.

Currently School Nurses working in Newcastle Schools are trained as Stop Smoking Advisers. These nurses provide support to students aged 12 and above, supplying Nicotine Replacement Therapy. We’re also able to take referrals from School Nurses for family members of students.

If you’re a school nurse who would like further support in smoking cessation and helping young people on their journey, head over to our Youth Zone for tailored information for young people, or find out more about our Free Training Sessions.
